Toyota Motors and Telsa Motors aim is to develop and market electric vehicles in the United States in 2012, with prototypes that will combine Toyota RAV4 model with a Tesla electric powertrain.

“The new changes to the all-new BMW M3 will allow it to be impressively faster and powerful,” said General Sales Manager, Steve Rudkin.

The popular BMW M3 has its engine replaced by a tuned up version of the power plant found in the BMW X6 M. The original M3 engine is a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 developing maximum output of 414 horsepower and maximum torque of 400 at 3,900 rpm.

Emotion Wheels upgraded the 4.4-liter V8 twin-scroll engine from the X6 M and it now produces 707 horsepower. The 535i receives BMW’s newest 3.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged inline, while the 550i will be powered by BMW’s reverse-flow 4.4-liter Twin Power turbo V8. Despite pressure from some lawmakers, President Akio Toyoda said he won’t be attending the U.S. congressional hearing on the automaker’s quality lapses, entrusting the job to U.S.-based executives, though would consider an appearance if the committee requests it. He said he wanted to focus on improving quality worldwide.

“I trust that our officials in the U.S. will amply answer the questions,” Toyoda said Wednesday in his third news conference in two weeks. “We are sending the best people to the hearing, and I hope to back up the efforts from headquarters.”

He said Yoshi Inaba, who heads Toyota Motor Corp.’s North American unit, was more familiar with the U.S. situation and was the best executive to deal with the hearing. Toyoda said he was still making plans to go to the U.S. and dates have yet to be set.
